The Global Economic Meltdown and War
As we go deeper into a global economic meltdown, we should heed the lessons of the Great Depression as applied on an international scale.
As countries suffer greater financial problems, they become more competitive in trade and in the quest for cheap resources - leading to imperialism and armed conflict.
As a country's rulers are pressed by their people, who are in dire need, the rulers will try to distract the people by claiming they are under foreign attack. (This is one version of 'wag the dog.') They then become aggressive and engage in preemptive wars.
These two factors can lead to another World War, just as they did in the 1930s.
