Leaving the Republican Party

Over forty years ago, I registered to vote, and it was as a Republican. It is now time for me to change my party affiliation, as the Republican Party no longer has any values or principles worth supporting.
The Republican Party, as manifested in the present Administration, has betrayed the Constitution and perverted the rule of law. The Party does not protect our freedom but insidiously seeks to destroy it.
The Republican Party has allied itself with sectarian fundamentalism and has desecrated the principle of separation of church and state.
The Party has led us into an unjust and unjustifiable war in Iraq, even though the Party leaders and their families have personally avoided military service.
Courtesy of the Republicans, our country is rapidly becoming a corporate state with our health and economy subservient to Big Business.
The final straw has come from the CIA leak case. Leaders, advisers, and fellow travelers of the Party were involved in a serious breach of our defenses when they released information critical to our national security.
Instead of dire punishment of the perpetrators of this criminal activity, we find them still in positions of power and influence, and protected from punishment.
There is too much ethical and political corruption in the Republican Party.
As of July 4, 2007 I am no longer a registered Republican.

Rights of Gay Veterans

Dal Miranda, Leonard Malkovich and other gays are Vietnam War veterans, but they do not have the right to marry the person they choose.
George W. Bush, Richard Cheney and Karl Rove contrived to avoid the Vietnam War, yet have the right to marry who they choose.
Why do draft-dodgers have more rights than Veterans?
