Different Classes of Americans

One of the basic American ideals is that we are all equal and nothing, not even money, can put one citizen ahead of another.
We also believe that an individual’s rights, including those of selfhood and privacy, are inviolate.
Now with the fast-pass traveler’s card we are creating a class of citizens who put down their money and surrender their personal identity just for the sake of getting through a security checkpoint quicker, ahead of the rest of us. The only complaint is that the cardholder applicants cannot complete the transaction fast enough.
The American dreams and ideals are once more sold out.

This is but one example of how we are selling out ourselves and our heritage of freedom and equality. This also extends to other examples of American life, such of special toll roads for those who will pay, special tax categories and preferences, corporate welfare, etc.

Equal Opportunity Recruitment

It has been quite noticeable during the Iraq War that an inordinate number of those killed have Hispanic surnames. Now we have the report that rural and small town America is overrepresented in the KIA.
It is also obvious that an inordinate number of those who die in Iraq have different names from their mothers. This indicates that too many are the children of divorce and of single mothers.
How about a military recruitment plan to staff the Army and Marines from White/Anglo, middle-class, traditional families? Then we can all share the sacrifice.
