President Bush and the Constitution
President Bush continues to violate the rights of Americans by authorizing invasions of privacy. The latest instance is the NSA listening to our phone calls.
This is a clear violation of the 4th Amendment to the Bill of Rights, which requires that “no Warrants shall issue, but upon probably cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched….”
[The phrase referred to has since be determined not to meet professional journalistic standards for substantiation and therefore has been removed. I regret the error.]
[This was published as a 'Letter to the Editor' in the San Jose Mercury News on
December 20, 2005, but with the last phrase changed deleting the quotation marks
and the blasphemous phrase.]
